Updated for 2020! Did you know that there are almost more brands of vegan “eggnog” on the market than dairy-filled ones? How cool is that? In stores like Whole Foods, dairy-free holiday beverages will actually dominate the shelves. But have no fear, you can find many of these delights at conventional grocers, too. And I’ve confirmed with all of the brands below that these should be popping up for purchase now through the holidays. The shelf-stable ones can also be purchased online in some cases.
Dairy-Free Holiday Beverages Available in Stores
Unfortunately for eggnog traditionalists and lactose intolerant dairy-free consumers who are not vegan, the market currently lacks “just” dairy-free holiday beverages. I haven’t found any as of yet, anyway. In other words, all of the dairy-free “eggnogs” are also egg-free and vegan. This doesn’t make them any less delicious, but it does put them an extra degree of separation away from the traditional.
The creamy dairy-free holiday beverages don’t stop at (not-so-traditional) eggnog either. I’ve also included other seasonal sips that you might enjoy. And this list has been fully updated – all of these dairy-free holiday beverages are available this season!
Almond Breeze Almondmilk Nog
Last year, Almond Breeze added Mexican Hot Chocolate to their holiday line-up. It doesn’t look like they’re bringing it back for 2020. Nevertheless, their Classic Almondmilk Nog has returned.
- Packaging: Refrigerated
- Base: Almond Milk
- Availability: U.S. (not sure on Canada)
- Info: www.almondbreeze.com
Silk Nog
Silk’s most popular Nog is back! Over the years, Almond Nog and Pumpkin Spice Nog have come and gone, but they’ve kept tradition with their soymilk-based nog.
- Packaging: Refrigerated
- Base: Soymilk
- Availability: U.S. (I don’t think it is in Canada)
- Info: silk.com
So Delicious Dairy Free Coconutmilk Holiday Nog
Perhaps the richest in the bunch, the So Delicious Nog received high marks from all of my tasting friends. (Sorry, the Pumpkin Spice and Mint Chocolate were discontinued). And it’s sold in shelf-stable packaging. These dairy-free holiday beverages might still be found in the refrigerated section in some stores, but don’t be fooled. The packages will keep in your pantry until opened or expired.
Friendly Farms Almond Nog (ALDI)
Sarah found dairy-free nog at ALDI last year, and it looks like it’s back! It’s fortified, sweetened with cane sugar, and carrageenan-free. It contains almonds, but no other top allergens. However, it is certified kosher-D (see our Understanding Kosher Guide). Here’s what Sarah had to say about it:
Aldi is carrying a seasonal Almond Nog. It’s very smooth and creamy, but not nearly as thick as dairy eggnog. For me this is a plus, but others might want a thicker consistency. I like that it doesn’t weigh you down like traditional eggnog. It is very mildly spiced and has a pretty yellow color. The coloring is provided by fruit juice, but the ingredients don’t specify what type of fruit is used. I think it would make great French toast batter or be a fun addition to coffee.
- Packaging: Refrigerated
- Base: Almond Milk
- Availability: U.S. (not sure if it is available at Aldi stores worldwide)

Califia Farms Holiday Nog and Holiday Cold Brew Coffee
This rapidly expanding almond milk company offers a beloved dairy-free Holiday Nog. But they buck tradition with their unique Pumpkin Spice Latte and Peppermint Mocha cold brewed coffee almond milks. Technically, the Peppermint Mocha is available year round, but they still tout it as a seasonal selecton.
Trader Joe’s Dairy-Free Holiday Beverages
This year, we’re still waiting to see what Trader Joe’s releases. It looks like they didn’t bring back their Pumpkin Spice Almond Beverage, but their Almond Nog and Chocolate Peppermint Almond Beverage could be on shelves any day now.
- Packaging: Shelf-Stable (Chocolate Peppermint); Refrigerated (Nog)
- Base: Almond Milk
- Availability: U.S.
- Info: www.traderjoes.com
365 Holiday Almond Nog
Look what I spotted at the store! Not satisfied with selling just the nogs listed here, Whole Foods released their own vegan, soy-free version last year. And it’s made a triumphant return.
Good Karma Holiday Nog & Pumpkin Spice Nog
These vegan nogs are lower in sugar than some other brands, but not light on flavor. They’re not too rich, and very drinkable, with definite hints of sweet holiday spice. The holiday nog even tastes a touch “eggy” like traditional nog, despite being free of top allergens.
Earth’s Own Almond Nog
At long last, Earth’s Own has added Nog to their website! For years, they silently slipped their Noel Nog onto Canadian shelves. But last year, they gave it a new look, a new name, and are proudly displaying it.
- Packaging: Refrigerated
- Base: Almond Milk
- Availability: Canada
- Info: earthsown.com
Pecan Malk Nog & Maple Pecan Malk
Malk makes a rich, ultra-pure line of nut milks with no binders, fillers, gums or carrageenan! They also sweeten naturally with maple syrup. Each year, they quietly release their Pecan Malk Nog, but you can regularly find their Maple Pecan “Milk” in stores.
- Packaging: Refrigerated
- Base: Pecan Milk
- Availability: U.S. (Whole Foods (Southwest, Rocky Mountain regions) and natural food stores nationwide)
- Info: malkorganics.com
Rebbl Spiced Coconut Milks
They aren’t technically dairy-free holiday beverages. In fact, you can get these flavors year round. But we think the creamy, healthy Ashwagandha Chai Elixir and Vanilla Spice Protein beverages have a festive feel that fits the season.
- Packaging: Refrigerated
- Base: Coconut Milk
- Availability: U.S.
- Info: rebbl.co
Marin Living Foods Nog
This hand-crafted nog is only available regionally. But we simply had to mention this fresh option for anyone who lives in or may be visiting Northern California.
Sammi’s Best Soy Nog
We haven’t sampled this unique holiday beverage, but it has many properties that the others don’t. For one, it is powdered and shelf-stable, so you can mix up a glass whenever you like! It’s lower sugar than most, and is fortified with calcium, vitamin D, B vitamins, and more. Like most dairy-free milk beverages, it is made in a shared facility. But dairy cross contamination can be more problematic with powders, and a bigger concern for those with a severe milk allergy.
Dairy-Free Holiday Creamers Available in Stores
There are also a few seasonal dairy-free creamers that you can use to create your own dairy-free holiday beverages.
Nutpods Winter Creamer Collection
Vegan, kosher pareve, Whole30 approved, gluten-free, and no added sugar – yes, really! And this year their holiday flavors include Pumpkin Spice, Peppermint Mocha, and new Holiday Nog!. You can buy all three together in their Winter Collection. You can also see our Nutpods Review for more details.
- Packaging: Shelf-stable
- Base: Coconout Cream and Almonds
- Availability: U.S. (you can buy it on Amazon!)
- Info: www.nutpods.com
Silk Pumpkin Spice & Dark Chocolate Peppermint Almond Creamers
Silk did a revamp of their creamers this year, and added several varieties, including TWO pumpkin spice (one unsweetened) and dark chocolate pepperming.
- Packaging: Refrigerated
- Base: Almond Milk
- Availability: U.S. (I don’t think it is in Canada)

Califia Winter & Fall Almondmilk Creamers

This year they have two seasonal varieties made with almond milk!

Trader Joe’s Cocoa Peppermint Almond Creamer
We’re waiting to see if this creamer returns!
Dairy-Free Holiday Beverage Recipes (Homemade Nog & More!)
These recipes include vegan options and “just” dairy-free drinks (traditional eggnog with egg), too.
