This Pineapple Coconut Smoothie is a Refreshing Dairy-Free Blend
This dairy-free pineapple coconut smoothie is loaded with vitamin C, which is very important for bone health. But it also contains bromelain, a group of enzymes found exclusively in pineapple. Bromelain is used in many digestive supplements, and is touted for anti-inflammatory benefits. But even more important, pineapple tastes amazing! What is Coconut Milk Beverage?
Coconut milk beverage is a milk alternative. It’s sold in cartons and is good for drinking straight up, cereal, smoothies, and recipes. It’s basically a watered down version of regular coconut milk.
Can I Use a Different Milk Alternative?
Yes! If you want a coconut-free pineapple smoothie, swap in your favorite milk alternative.
Can I Use Regular Coconut Milk?
You can. I suggest light canned coconut milk, to keep this blend on the hydrating side. But you can use regular, full-fat coconut milk, or use half coconut milk, half water to mimic light coconut milk.
What Other Add-Ins are Good in this Pineapple Coconut Smoothie?
We’ve used both plain and vanilla dairy-free protein powder. Use pea protein or collagen for a creamier blend, or egg white protein if you want a “Julius” vibe. Other good add-ins include ground flaxseed or powdered supplements, like calcium, magnesium, or dairy-free probiotics. You can also add some greens, like spinach or kale. Pineapple has a wonderful ability to overpower greens and powders to some degree.

Dairy-Free Pineapple Coconut Smoothie

- 1 cup frozen pineapple
- ½ cup plain unsweetened coconut milk beverage or light canned coconut milk
- ½ cup pineapple juice or orange juice
- ½ cup ice
- 2 tablespoons agave nectar or sugar, or to taste
- In a blender, combine the pineapple, coconut milk beverage, orange juice, and ice, and blend until smooth, thick and creamy. If smoothie is too thick, add a little bit more coconut milk beverage and blend until smooth. If smoothie is not thick enough, add more ice as needed.
- Serve right away. If desired, garnish the smoothie with a sprinkle of sweetened dried coconut.
