Updated 2021! This isn’t a purely dairy-free chain. Juice it Up does use dairy yogurt and sherbet in many of their menu items. But we found out what substitutions they will make at no charge to make any of their smoothies, smoothie bowls, or acai bowls dairy-free. Plus, we like how Juice It Up shuns added sugars. Unlike many other big smoothie shops, they solely use fruit to sweeten.

Juice It Up Blends Dairy-Free Options into Their Menu

Several years ago, Juice it Up added a plant-based line, and began incorporating some dairy-free “boosts” into their menu. We’ve outlined these options below, along with special order tips.

Smoothies

  • Ultimate Acai Smoothie
  • Superfruit Sunrise Smoothie
  • The Greens
  • The Reds
  • The Turmeric

Classic and Protein Smoothies: These all contain either dairy yogurt or sherbet. But a representative from Juice it Up told us “any smoothie that has yogurt or sherbet can be substituted for additional fruit at no cost. The only exception that would result in an upcharge would be substituting for acai, or dragon fruit.” You can also request soy or collagen for the protein in the protein smoothies at Juice It Up.

Raw Juices

All Dairy-Free & Vegan-Friendly: At last check, all of the juices and shots at Juice It Up were made without dairy.

Bowls

  • Ultimate Acai Bowl
  • Acai Berry Bowl
  • Dragon Fruit Passion Bowl
  • Super Fusion Bowl
  • Protein Acai Bowl (sub fruit for yogurt + order dairy-free protein)
  • Vital Proteins Blue Bowl (sub fruit for yogurt)
  • Cold Brew Acai Bowl (sub fruit for yogurt)

Toppings, Add Ons, and Boosts

  • Almonds
  • Cacao Nibs
  • Chia Seeds
  • Coconut Flakes
  • Fresh Fruit
  • Goji Berries
  • Granola
  • Peanuts
  • Energy
  • Probiotic
  • Soy Protein
  • Spirulina
  • Vita Boost
  • Vital Proteins Collagen

Heads Up! We did verify with Juice It Up that their granola and probiotic are indeed dairy-free. Nonetheless, if concerned about the probiotic medium source, ask to see the product.

Vegan Options at Juice it Up

All of the above are also vegan-friendly, except for the items using Vital Proteins Collagen. You can request to substitute soy protein. Juice It Up does not add sweeteners, like honey, to their smoothies or bowls.

Allergen Protocols

We have been told by readers that their staff will use a clean blender and open new ingredient packages as requested to help prevent cross contamination with smoothie and bowl orders. And in theory, their juicer only processes fruits and vegetables. But as with any restaurant environment, they are clear that cross-contamination is still a possibility since they do use dairy and other top allergens in their shops.

There is always a risk for potential cross-contamination of allergens in any commercial kitchen. If cross-contamination is an issue for you, always speak with the manager to ensure that your meal can be safely prepared. Listings here do not guarantee that a restaurant is safe enough for your individual needs. Only you can make that decision.
