Don’t you love fall flavors? I can never get enough of the apple desserts in fall. Usually, I’m all about apple crisp, but this dairy-free cranberry apple cobbler has serious appeal. Have you ever had a pie with cranberries and apples? The combination is AMAZING! This cobbler offers the same deliciousness as a pie, but is much less fussy and quite quick to pull together.

Dairy-Free Cranberry Apple Cobbler Recipe made Easy with Refrigerated Biscuits (also vegan-friendly and nut-free)This Biscuit-style Apple Cranberry Cobbler recipe with photo and video was shared with us by Culinary.net, but it has been slightly adapted.

Cranberry Apple Cobbler made Easy with Refrigerated Biscuits

This is a shortcut recipe that uses dairy-free refrigerated biscuits, but you can use homemade biscuits if you prefer. I have dairy-free options for both listed below.

Dairy-Free Refrigerated Biscuit Dough

This is another one of those surprisingly dairy-free things. Not all, but many refrigerated biscuit dough brands are actually vegan-friendly. At last check, all of these were made without any milk ingredients.

  • Annie’s Organic Flaky Biscuits (contains wheat)*
  • Immaculate Organic Flaky Biscuits (contains wheat)*
  • Pillsbury Buttermilk Flaky Layers Biscuits (contains wheat and soy)*
  • Pillsbury Original Southern Homestyle Biscuits (contains wheat and soy)*
  • Walmart Great Value Buttermilk Biscuits (contains wheat and soy)*
  • Walmart Great Value Homestyle Biscuits (contains wheat and soy)*

*These may be made on shared equipment with milk-containing ingredients, so be sure to verify their allergen protocols, if needed. Only you can decide if a product is safe for your needs. Although some of these have “buttermilk” in their names, there is no buttermilk in the recipes.

Homemade Dairy-Free Biscuit Dough

Of course, you don’t have to use store-bought. Homemade biscuit dough is actually quite easy in its own right. All of the following recipes are dairy free, too.

Special Diet Notes: Cranberry Apple Cobbler

By ingredients, this recipe is dairy-free / non-dairy, egg-free, nut-free, peanut-free,  vegan, and vegetarian. See above for a paleo option and for two gluten-free options.

For soy-free, dairy-fee cranberry apple cobbler, use one of the homemade biscuit options above. Most store-bought brands contain soy.

Total time

1 hour 15 mins

Author: Wilton

Recipe type: Dessert

Cuisine: American

  • 5 apples, peeled, cored and cut into ½-inch thick slices
  • 1½ cups fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons non-GMO cornstarch (can sub arrowroot starch)
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 (10-ounce) container refrigerated dairy-free home-style biscuits, cut into quarters (see post above for options)
  • 2 tablespoons dairy-free buttery spread, melted
  • 2 tablespoons sparkling sugar
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F and grease a pie dish.
  2. In large bowl, stir together the apple slices, cranberries, lemon juice, and vanilla extract.
  3. In small bowl, whisk together the sugar, starch, and cinnamon.
  4. Add the sugar mixture to the fruit, and stir to combine.
  5. Transfer the fruit mixture to your prepared pie dish. Cover with foil and place on a baking sheet with high sides.
  6. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes. Remove from the oven and remove the foil.
  7. Toss the biscuit quarters with the melted buttery spread, to coat. Place the biscuit quarters on top of the fruit in your pie pan in a single layer.
  8. Sprinkle the biscuits with sparkling sugar.
  9. Return the cobbler to the oven and bake for 18 to 20 minutes, uncovered.
  10. Let the cobbler cool for 15 minutes before serving.
